David A. Riddering, 56, of Barnesville, Minnesota died Monday, June 13, 2011 at the Sanford Health Center in Fargo, North Dakota. Visitation: Monday, June 20, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Dobmeier Funeral Home. Visitation resumes one hour prior to the service at the church. Service: 2:00 p.m. " Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Barnesville, Minnesota Burial: Barnesville City Cemetery, Barnesville, Minnesota David Alan Riddering was born June 27, 1954 in Miami, Arizona the son of Theodore and Stella (Stinnett) Riddering. He was raised in Perham, Minnesota where he attended school and graduated from high school in 1972. He then entered the United States Navy serving with the Seabees. Upon his release from the Navy he continued his service for 25 years serving in the Naval Reserves, North Dakota Army National Guard and then the U.S. Air Guard as Master Sergeant. He received numerous ribbons, awards and medals including the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon and Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal with two devices. He served on AD in support of Operation Noble Eagle at Hector IAP, Fargo, North Dakota On November 15, 1975 he was united in marriage to Anna Contreras in Florence, Arizona. They made their home in Moorhead, Minnesota where he attended Moorhead State University and then worked for the City of Moorhead. In 1978 they moved to Florence, Arizona where he attended Arizona State University and then worked as a prison guard. Upon moving back to Barnesville in 1979 he resumed working for the City of Moorhead until 1994 when he went to work for the City of Barnesville. He was currently working as Director of Public Works for the City of Barnesville. David was a past member of the VFW and the Lions Club and was very active with the Barnesville Park Board. David enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, golfing, foosball, their cabin out at Loon Lake, and bird watching. David is survived by his wife of 35 years: Anna, Barnesville, Minnesota; children: Trista (Buffy) Riddering, Fargo, North Dakota and Amanda (Doug) Cox, Dilworth, Minnesota; sister: Darlena (Fran) Arends, Sabin, Minnesota; brother: Ted (Peggy) Riddering, Barnesville, Minnesota and mother-in-law: Dorothy Contreras of Florence, Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherry; parents; and father-in-law, Alex Contreras.
