Floyd Schindler

Floyd Schindler, 86, of Barnesville, Minnesota, died Sunday, August 26, 2012, at Clayco Care Center in Barnesville, Minnesota. Floyd Edward Schindler was born on September 14, 1925 in Vassar, Manitoba, to August and Rose (Bartlett) Schindler. He grew up in Vassar, and moved to Barnesville, Minnesota in 1940. He later became a United States Citizen. Floyd had been married to Glenora Hilgers, and from this union they had seven children. After losing his son, Eugene, in the Vietnam war, Floyd became a Gold Star Father. Floyd farmed in the Barnesville area for many years. He also worked at Thompson Potato House in Barnesville, and The Mainline in Downer. Floyd enjoyed playing baseball, and also loved to go fishing. Floyd is survived by his children, Richard (Cheryl) Schindler of Barnesville; Charlotte (Douglas) Nelson of Barnesville; Howard Schindler of Barnesville; Rose (Bernard) Bates of Moorhead; Maurice Schindler of Fargo; and Joe Schindler of Barnesville; Seven grandchildren and one step-grandchild; twelve great-grandchildren; Siblings, Ray (Marlys) Schindler of Barnesville; Madeline Vauclair of St. Annes, Canada; Emma Randklev of Moorhead; Mildred Wohlwend of Barnesvile; And many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; Son, Eugene; Brother, Charles; and a sister, Lillian. Visitation: Wednesday, August 29, 2012 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Service: 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Assumption Catholic Church, Barnesville, MN Interment: St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Barnesville, MN
