Jewel J. McDunn, 92 of Barnesville, Minnesota died Monday, June 15, 2009 in the Barnesville Good Samaritan Society, Barnesville. Jewel, daughter of Oscar and Virginia (Jones) Johnson, was born August 2, 1916 in Moorhead. She attended school and grew to womanhood in Barnesville graduating from Barnesville high School in 1935. Jewel marred Wallace McDunn on January 30, 1936 in the Assumption Catholic Church, Barnesville. The couple made their home in Barnesville. Jewel worked for Bud Barth and the Ben Franklin Store both of Barnesville. Wally died in 2002. In June of 2007 Jewel became a resident of the Barnesville Good Samaritan Society where she lived until the time of her death. She was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville, St. Anns Guild and the Lady Foresters. Jewel was a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the V.F.W. Auxiliary both of Barnesville. She was a member of Homemakers and her Birthday Club. She enjoyed crafts of all kinds especially those made from paper and did embroidering on dishtowels. She is survived by one daughter, Janet (Gary) Smith of rural Barnesville, six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, Gary (Lisa) Smith Jr. of Hopkins, Minnesota; Teri Cowger of Maple Grove, Minnesota, and her children Alyssa and Nathan; Jay (Devney) Smith of Peoria, Arizona, and their children, Anna, Danny and Julia; Mark (Tammy) Rambow of Barnesville, and their children, Landon and Shayla; Melody (Barry) Sivertson, and their children, Sierra, Mariah and Savanna; Roxanne (Larry) Pomerenke of Boise, Idaho and their son Chad. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son James, her daughter Carol, her grandson Dean, and three brothers, Conrad, Robert and Harold. Funeral Mass: Friday at 11:00 in the Assumption Catholic Church, Barnesville. Visitation: Today from 4:00 " 8:00 with a prayer service at 7:00 in Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville and two hours before Mass on Friday at the church.
