Harry Manston

Harry Manston, age 81, a resident of Barnesville, Minnesota died Friday, November 30, 2012 at Essentia Health in Fargo, North Dakota. Harry Odean Manston, was born August 9, 1931 the son of Bert and Cora (Helgeson) Manston. In 1949 he graduated from Barnesville High School. Harry served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956 being stationed in France. On June 29, 1962 Harry was united in marriage to Gloria (Ferris) Scherf. He worked as a sign installer and roofer for various companies in the Fargo-Moorhead area. After that time, Harry worked for the electrical and street departments for the city of Barnesville until his retirement. Gloria died in 1986. Harry was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and served on the church council. He was also a Boy Scout Master and active member of the Barnesville V.F.W. Post #4628 and Barnesville American Legion #153 serving as a former commander of the V.F.W. and chaplain of the color guard. Harry is survived by his son, Micheal (Debra Martinson) Manston, Bottineau, ND, Curtis (Susan) Scherf, Halstad, MN; daughters, Penny Scherf, Madison, WI, Becky (George) Nelson, San Angelo, Texas, Kathy (Gary) Randklev, Barnesville, MN; 11 grandchildren: Melissa, Megan, Maura, Malinda, Shannon, Kelly, Corey, Nathan, David, Gary II, and Trina; 10 great-grandchildren: Cadence, Avery, Regan, Kaela, Cole, Carter, Blake, Ashlee, Benjamin, and Nicholas; brother, Cleon (Bonnie) Manston, Fargo, ND; sister, Bette (Robert) Guidry, Clearwater, MN; brothers-in-law, James (Joyce) Ferris, Barnesville; Jerry Ferris, Elkhart, Indiana, Dean Lammers, Barnesville, Donald Griffin, Moorhead, MN; sister-in-law, Margaret Hanson, Moorhead, MN; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Marlene Schell, Barnesville. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gloria. Memorial Mass: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville, Minnesota. Visitation: Will be held on Monday, December 3, 2012 at the Dobmeier Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a 7:00 pm Prayer Service and will resume one hour prior to services in the church. Interment: St. Marys Catholic Cemetery in Barnesville, Minnesota Presiding: Fr. Gary LaMoine, Celebrant Honorary Pallbearers: All of Harrys family and friends
