Howard L. Jensen

Howard (Moose) Jensen Our beloved father, Howard Moose Jensen went away to be with our Lord on January 4, 2009. He was born March 6, 1937, the 7th child of George and Dorothy (Dauner) Jensen in Hawley, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at Lysne Church, Hawley. Having a great love for his country Howard entered the Army in October of 1957, and was honorably discharged in October of 1961. Howard is a veteran of the Korean War Era. He met Janet Bjorem, and they married October 15, 1960. They made a home farming out by Hitterdal, Minnesota near his father and brother for several years, being blessed with 9 children. Howard was nicknamed Moose for obvious reasons-he was big as a moose! Howard loved his parents, family, children and growing families of great-grandchildren. His faith in the Lord grew as he did. Howard was an avid lover of farming, fixing machines, helping out local farmers, as well as being a fantastic daddy. Howard worked at American Crystal Sugar, Ulven Gravel in Hawley, Fitzgerald of Sabin, S & S Construction, and most recently Mark Sand and Gravel of Fergus Falls, Minnesota. During his retirement years he worked for Jerry Steiner of Rothsay, and Whiskey Creek Farms. In his spare time after dinner, he would go driving around looking at crops. He invested thousands of miles doing this. Howard also enjoyed special little hunting and fishing trips, and tackling those pesky little gophers! Howard made his home in Barnesville and he loved every moment of life and enjoyed every person he met. Our dad Moose will be sadly missed here on earth by us all! He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a brother, Joe, and one grandson, Dane. He is survived by two daughters; Lisa (Leonard) of Fergus Falls, Lynn of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota seven sons; Joel (Evelyn) of Rothsay, Minnesota, Jim (Nancy) of Pelican Rapids, Jerry of Rothsay, Darrin (Sandy) of Erhard, Minnesota, Danny of Fergus Falls, David of Fergus Falls, Damien (Amanda) of Monticello, Minnesota. He is also survived by three brothers; Chester of Moorhead, Minnesota, Ernie (Luella) of Fergus Falls, Stan (Arlene) of Fergus Falls, one sister; Lenora (Vic) Hanson of Wendell, Minnesota, one sister-in-law; Evelyn of Hawley, nineteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and other family members and friends. Visitation: There will be a visitation starting at 4 on Friday, January 9, followed by a prayer service at 6 in Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville Minnesota. Funeral: The funeral service will be Saturday January 10, at 11:00 in St. James United Church of Christ with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service in the church.
