Evelyn M. Sorum 91, of Andover, Minnesota formerly Barnesville, Minnesota died Saturday, June 13, 2009, in Mercy Hospital, Coon Rapids, Minnesota. Evelyn, daughter of Axel and Paula (Stensrud) Sorum, was born June 21, 1917 on her fathers farm in Skree Township, Clay County, Minnesota. She attended school and grew to womanhood in the Barnesville area graduating from Barnesville High School in 1936. She worked for the Barnesville Telephone Company as a telephone operator for several years before moving to Minneapolis. In Minneapolis she worked as a telephone operator for the Bell Systems retiring in 1982 after 35 years of service. In 1982 she moved to Mesa, Arizona where she lived until recently when she became a resident of the Farmstead in Andover, Minnesota. She lived there until the time of her death. Evelyn enjoyed flowers, family and friends, and liked to go antiquing. She enjoyed traveling to points of interest in Arizona. She is survived by two nieces and one nephews, Marian Ronningen of Fargo, Geraldine (Gerald) Foss of Ham Lake, Minnesota, Paul Ronningen of Fargo; one great-niece and three great-nephews, Lucinda (Gerry) Foss"Faller of Maple Grove, Minnesota, James Foss and Jonathan Foss both of Ham Lake and Gregory Foss of Fridley, Minnesota; two great-great nieces, Alexis and Jessica Faller at home in Maple Grove. She is also survived by several cousins and close friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; one sister Evangeline Ronningen and two brothers, Orris and Ordean. Funeral Services will be Wednesday at 2 in Gran Lutheran Church, rural Barnesville. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 1 " 2 at the church. Burial will be in Gran Lutheran Cemetery.
