Josephine "Josie" S Stetz

Josephine (Josie) S. Stetz, 91 of Barnesville, Minnesota died Saturday, December 26, 2009 in the Good Samaritan Society, Barnesville. Josie, daughter of Frank and Stella (Rempala)) Cich, was born June 7, 1918 in Omaha, Nebraska where she attended school and grew to womanhood. Josephine married Benedict L. Stetz on November 4, 1936 in Omaha. The couple made their home in Omaha for one year before moving to the Barnesville area. They lived and farmed near Barnesville until their retirement in 1971. Mr. Stetz died in 1972. Josephine continued to live on the farm until she moved into Barnesville. She had lived at the Good Samaritan Society, Barnesville for a short time before her death. Josie was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church of Barnesville and St. Anns Guild. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, playing cards and was an avid Polka Party fan. She is survived by nine grandchildren; Sally Gruver (Steve), Moorhead, Minnesota, Sara Chapman (Sean), Andover, Minnesota Tim (Sue) Stetz, Moorhead, Trish (Allan) Friedt, Moorhead, Todd Stetz, Moorhead, Susie (Brett) Meline, Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, Micaela Shirley, San Diego, California, Melinda (Ward) Shirley-Zander, San Diego; twelve great-grandchildren; Alex, Katie and Zach of Moorhead, Luke, Adam and Grant of Andover, Julia and Jack of Moorhead, Brady and Dylan of Brooklyn Park, Vanessa and Jessica of San Diego; one great-great grandchild, Gage of San Diego; and one sister, Stella Staskiewicz of Omaha, Nebraska. Josie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Patricia Shirley; her son, Robert Stetz; her grandchildren, Jane Stetz and Robert Shirley; two sisters, Elizabeth Zbylut and Anna Kasal; and one brother, Ted Cich. Visitation: will be Friday from 5:00 " 8:00 with a Prayer Service at 7:00 in Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville and two hours before Mass at the church. Funeral Mass: will be Saturday at 11:00 at the Assumption Catholic Church, Barnesville. Interment: will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Barnesville.
