Lyle Ackerson

Lyle Ackerson, 80, of Barnesville, MN, died at the ClayCo Care Center in Barnesville on Tuesday, January 29, 2013. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, February 1, 2013 at Hosanna Fellowship in Barnesville, MN with Pastor Pete Ackerson officiating. Burial will follow in the Elkton Cemetery, rural Downer, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Friday. Lyle John Ackerson was born on March 3, 1932 to John Gardener and Lila Gertrude (Swanson) Ackerson at Fort Ripley, MN. He was the oldest of nine children. He was baptized at a young age at the Moorhead Assembly of God Church. He attended country school near Pillager, MN. Lyle was involved in farming all of his life. He raised dairy and beef cattle. He also raised and sold hay. He was up before the sun rose and didnt rest until the sun did for the night. He was a hard worker. He farmed in a few different areas of Minnesota including Downer, Rollag for over 20 years and lastly near Lake Park. In his spare time, Lyle enjoyed boating and fishing. Lyle was known to many as Happy Go Lucky. He loved to eat, and his siblings teased that they would pass the bowls of food to him last because he would empty them. He had a blunt sense of humor. He is survived by seven siblings: Mabel Torkelson of Glyndon, MN, David (Nancy) Ackerson, of Barnesville, MN, Marilyn Skiles of California, Joseph (Georgene) Ackerson of Barnesville, MN, Carol Jacobs of Fargo, ND, Sharon (John) Houge of Bismarck, ND, and Marlin Pete (Norma) Ackerson of Barneville, MN. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Ben.
