Roger D. Thune

Roger D. Thune, 60, of Barnesville, MN passed away on Thursday, September 3rd in his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Roger was born August 3rd, 1949 in Fargo, ND to Wallace and Florence (Oien) Thune. He attended school in Fargo. He enlisted in the Navy in 1967 and was honorably discharged in 1973. Roger married Gayle Logston in 1973 at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church, Fargo, and made their home in Barnesville, MN. In 1978 Roger began working for BNSF and worked there until the time of his death. Roger was an avid fisherman who loved ice fishing in the winter and angle in the summer on Star Lake. He also looked forward to his yearly cross-country trips on his motorcycle. Roger is survived by his wife, Gayle, his sons, Richard (April) and their children Saydi and Logan and Randy (Melissa) and their children Jorden and Evan, his parents, Wallace and Florence. He is also survived by his brothers, Wallace (Patty) Jr., Jeffrey (Joan), and David, and sisters, Odell Guss and Diane (Brad) Selseth, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother Dennis. Visitation: Tuesday, September 8 from 5-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 in Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville and 1 hour prior the funeral at the church. Funeral: Wednesday, September 9 at 10:30 a.m. in Pontoppidan Lutheran Church, Fargo. Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
