Mary Ann Plath

Mary Ann Plath, age 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at ClayCo Care Center in Barnesville, Minnesota Mary Ann was born on June 2, 1927 in Granite Falls, Minnesota to Ervin and Frances (Heath) Arneson. She grew up in Granite Falls and graduated high school in 1945. She worked in a grocery store and war ration office in Granite Falls. She then worked at the Creamery, where she met Roger Plath. Mary Ann and Roger wed on February 22, 1952 in Granite Falls. From this union they had five children. Mary Ann and Roger lived in Park River, North Dakota for a short time. They later moved to Barnesville. Mary Ann worked at Norbys Department Store in Barnesville for ten years. She and Roger were custodians at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Barnesville for more than 30 years. Mary Ann was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, where she was very active in the Circle, Ladies Aid, quilting, and volunteer work. She also belonged to the Barnesville Homemakers Club, and had been an Election Judge for many years. She was also currently the Secretary at the Senior Citizens Center. Mary Ann enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards, reading, bowling, camping at Meadow Lake, and attending sporting events for her children and grandchildren. Mary Ann is survived by her husband of 60 years, Roger; children, James (Eileen) Plath of Barnesville, Larry (Crystal) Plath of Barnesville, Thomas (Joni) Plath of Grand Forks, and Mary Kay (friend Curt Plotz) Plath of St. Paul; Grandchildren, Jeanie (Daren) Stigman, Hilary Plath, Robert Plath, Anthony Plath, Sara Plath, and Jalen Plath; Great-grandchildren, Aidan Stigman, James Stigman, Josh Stigman, and Liberty Plath; Brother, Dale Arneson (friend Sharon Fest) of Granite Falls; Sisters-in-law, Marlys (Duke) Markeson, and Yvonne Hunsey (Byron) Ellingson; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her daughter Janice. Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM, and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 11:00 AM Friday, October 26, 2012 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Barnesville. Burial: Barnesville City Cemetery, Barnesville.
