Solveig M. Solberg, 88, Barnesville, Minnesota passed away Wednesday, September 16 in Golden Manor Assisted Living, Barnesville. Solveig was born on November 15, 1920 in Brooklyn, New York to Charles and Gunhild (Hansen) Hansen. She was raised and went to school in the greater New York area, where she also attended business school. Solveig was united in marriage to Thorbjorn Toby Solberg on November 11, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York. They continued to live there until moving to East Hartland, Connecticut in 1950. It was there they raised their family. They moved to Crystal Lake, near Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, in 1984 and then to Barnesville in 1992. Toby died on August 31, 2001. Solveig continued to live in Barnesville until the time of her death. She enjoyed crocheting. She devoted her life to raising her family. Her husband and children were everything to her. Solveig has 5 children. She is survived by two sons, Harry (Carol) Solberg of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, Rev. Lloyd Solberg, Appomatix, Virginia; three daughters Edith (Charles) Lowry of Sanger, Texas, Lynn (Kenneth) McWethy of Pelican Rapids, Judy (Donald) Scarbrough of Redding, California; one brother, Robert (Juliette) Hansen of New Port Richey, Florida and 21 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Gunhild, her husband Toby, two brothers, Roy and Harry, and one sister Clara Samuelson. There will be a visitation at Dobmeier Funeral Home on Sunday, September 20 from 6-7 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 7 in the funeral home. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 in Hilltop Celebration Church, Fergus Falls Minnesota.
