Service: 1:00 p.m. " Thursday, February 24, 2011, at St. James United Church of Christ, Barnesville, Minnesota Fay Mollerud, age 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 19, 2011, at Golden Manor of Detroit Lakes, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Fay Lucile Wohlwend was born November 28, 1918, in Barnesville, Minnesota, the daughter of Edward and Emma (Priebe) Wohlwend. She was born during the flu epidemic; not knowing if she would live through the flu that her mother had, she was warmed on the oven door for a couple of days until she was in better health. Fay grew up on a farm in Barnesville. She graduated from Barnesville High School in 1937. On June 6, 1938, Fay was united in marriage to Emery Mollerud in New Effington, South Dakota. They made their home in Barnesville. Fay had a number of business ventures; she and Gerry Seefeldt co-owned the Barnesville Ice Cream Shop for a few years, then Fay and Emery purchased and operated Emerys Food Market for many years. Continuing with the food business they purchased their most memorable business, Emerys Cafe. Their cafe was an important part of Barnesville for over 25 years. Fay entered Golden Manor of Barnesville in 2007; in the fall of 2009, she moved to Golden Manor of Detroit Lakes. Fay was a life-time member of St. James United Church of Christ where she was active in many church activities. Fay enjoyed being with people, especially her family. She was famous for her caramel rolls. Fay is survived by her sons: Ted (Georgia) Mollerud, EauClaire, WI, and Dean (Cathy) Mollerud, Moorhead, MN; grandchildren: Katy, DeAnn, and Andrew; great-grandchildren: Leviah, Nava, and Kalil; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Emma; husband, Emery; brothers, Donald and LaVerne Wohlwend.
