Evelyn A. Nelson, 93 of Moorhead formerly Barnesville, Minnesota died Thursday, December 31, 2009, in her home in Moorhead. Evelyn, daughter of Fred and Hulda (Schmidt) Krabbenhoft, was born July 7, 1916 in Moorhead. She attended the Onan Country School and grew to womanhood in Sabin. She later attended Moorhead High School. Evelyn married Horace M. Nelson on July 6, 1936 in Waterloo, Iowa. In 1938 they moved to the Rollag, Minnesota area. They lived and farmed near Rollag until 1943 when they moved to the Wolverton, Minnesota area. They lived and farmed there until 1951 at which time they moved to the Lawndale, Minnesota area. They farmed there until their retirement in 1976. In 1977 they moved into Barnesville. Mr. Nelson died in 1991. Evelyn continued to live in Barnesville until July of 2007 when she moved into the Golden Living Community of Moorhead. She lived there until the time of her death. She was a member of St. James United Church of Christ, Barnesville and her Circle at St. James. She was also a member of the St. James ladies group that made rugs and quilts. Evelyn was an avid bowler and enjoyed bowling for many years. Evelyn is survived by two sons, Gene (Rosalind) Nelson of Moorhead and Carroll (Davi) Nelson of Ryegate, Montana; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her great-grandson, Jeffrey Knudson; three brothers, Elman, Harold and Leonard; eight sisters, Ella, Frances, Irene, Cecelia, Grace, Lila, Ida and Hilda.. Visitation: Friday, January 8, from 5:00 " 8:00 with a prayer service at 7:00 in Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville and two hours before the Funeral service at the church. Funeral service: Saturday, January 9, at 11:00 in St. James United Church of Christ, Barnesville. Interment: Rosemound Cemetery, Barnesville.
