Clarence Scheffler

Clarence Scheffler, 86, of Barnesville, Minnesota, died May 12, 2014 at ClayCo Nursing Home, Barnesville. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, May 16, 2014, at Hope Lutheran Brethren Church in Barnesville, MN. Burial will be in City Cemetery, Barnesville. Visitation will be 5-8 PM, Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday. Clarence Scheffler was born on March 31, 1928, to Richard and Lena (Theirfelder) Scheffler in Atherton Township, Wilkin County. He attended a one room school house in District 39, Atherton Township. Clarence wanted to serve his country; he enlisted in the US Army in 1946. He served in Manila. He returned to the family farm operation in Barnesville. He was united in marriage to Arlene Flaten and to this union six children were born. Shortly after that, Clarence he had an auto repair business for about 10 years in Barnesville. He later moved back to Wilkin County where he continued farming and raising cattle for over 20 years. Clarence picked corn all over the country for many farmers. Clarence enjoyed hunting and was an avid fisherman. He cut and sold wood and was known to many as the "wood chopper." He was a member of the VFW and served as Commander for many years. Clarence is survived by Pam Skogen, Vicki (Paul) Johnson, Joel (Kathy) Scheffler all of Barnesville, Lyle Scheffler , Elbow Lake, MN, seven grandchildren: Jeremy (Tara) Skogen, Ronald Scheffler, Brian (Danille)Scheffler, Brandy (Ben) Bartels, Jeana Scheffler, Paul (Elizabeth) Johnson Jr, Dustin(Kellie) Johnson, ten great grandchildren: Bryce, Brenna, Brooklyn, Brandi, and Bridget Skogen, Thomas and Bailey Johnson, Khloe Johnson, Clair and Lila Scheffler, two nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons Bruce and Doug Scheffler, son in law Bruce Skogen, and brother and sister in law Walter and Violet Scheffler.
