Kenneth Dwight Jerger, 52, Mesa, AZ, died in an automobile accident Wednesday, May 28, 2014. Memorial services will be at 1PM, Saturday, June 14, 2014, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Barnesville, MN, with Rev. Tom Eaves officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Rosemound Cemetery, Barnesville. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion and VFW Honor Squad. Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, June 13, 2014, at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Kenneth Dwight Jerger was born on July 14, 1961, Breckenridge, MN. He was the eighth child and fifth son of Emmanuel Gene and Glenis Mae (Lemke) Jerger. He grew up on the family dairy farm near Barnesville. Kenny participated in wrestling, band, and other extracurricular activities. Kenny graduated from Barnesville High School in 1979. After graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps, and in October 1979, completed his basic training at Camp Pendleton, San Diego, California. During his four years in the Marines he served as a Field Radio Technician in the Philippines, Japan, Singapore, Australia, and Africa. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home and then moved to the East Coast and worked as a Telecommunications Technician in Vienna, Virginia. In 1987, he moved to New York City where he was employed as the Telecom Manager by a brokerage firm; Tradition North America, Inc. He married Lisa Daniello, and to this union, one daughter, Lindsay, was born. They lived in Yardley, Pennsylvania, and Salisbury, Maryland, and enjoyed remodeling homes in the area. In 2003, he moved to Cape Coral, Florida, where he worked as a handyman. In 2007, Kenny moved back home to Minnesota and married Debra (Andrusko) Reed on June 18, 2011. They made their home in Mesa, AZ, where Kenneth continued to work as a handyman. He was also involved in volunteer work for local Veterans organizations in the Mesa area. Kenneth was a talented carpenter/handyman and excelled at home restoration. He also enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, and was a first-rate baker. Ken is survived by his wife, Debra Jerger, Mesa, AZ; daughter, Lindsay Jerger, Cape Coral, FL; parents, Emmanuel and Glenis Jerger, Moorhead, MN; nine siblings: Robert (Terry) Jerger, Fargo, ND; Dennis (Julie) Jerger, Barnesville, MN; Gary (Bev) Jerger, Moorhead, MN; Kaylene (Dennis) Motschenbacher, Barnesville, MN; Karen (Steve) Chambers, Forest Lake, MN; Kevin (Theresa) Jerger, Barnesville, MN; Carol (Randy) Erickson, Lake Park, MN; James (Kim) Jerger, West Fargo, ND; Lori (Blaine) Ress, West Fargo, ND; twenty-two nieces and nephews, and twenty-two great nieces and nephews, step children: David (Jennifer) Reed, Machine burg, PA, Ericalyn (Oliver) Weis, VA, Erin Reed (John Kusler) Columbia Heights, MN, 6 step grandchildren: Bailee, Tara, Aidian, Lillian and Peyton Reed, Emarie Kusler. Kenneth was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jacob and Amelia Jerger and Alvin and Emma Lemke.
