Maxine Iwen, 76, died on Sunday, September 14, 2014, at Sanford Palliative Care in Fargo. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 18, 2014, at Hope Lutheran Brethren Church in Barnesville, MN with Pastor Kevin Skarett officiating. Burial will follow in the Rollag Lutheran Cemetery, Rollag, MN. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM, Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, MN with a Prayer Service at 7:30 PM. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Maxine Gertrude Swenson was born on February 27, 1938, in Hawley, MN to Oliver J. and Manda (Oas) Swenson. She was baptized and confirmed at Rollag Lutheran Church. She attended country school in Rollag and graduated from Barnesville High School in 1956. She married Donald Wayne Iwen on March 11, 1961 in Fargo, ND. They lived in West Fargo until 1969. They then moved to Argusville, ND until 1985; then moving back to West Fargo for a few years. In 1993, they moved to Comstock, MN and in 2011 to Moorhead, MN. During these years, Maxine worked in the advertising department at deLendrecie's from 1957 to 1969. From 1969 to 1985, she worked for The Forum in the display advertising department. From 1985 to 1995, she worked as a computer graphic designer at S & S Specialty. From 1995 to 2008, she worked in Burgum Hall at NDSU. Maxine loved her family and her grandchildren. In her younger years, she sang in the Argusville Church Choir. For the last 15 years, she has attended church at Hope Lutheran Church in Fargo. Maxine's passion was decorating her home. She was a talented artist, who also enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, trying new recipes, and most importantly feeding people. Above all, Maxine's faith and her trust in Jesus lead her through her life, which gave her great peace and comfort. Maxine is survived by her husband Don of Moorhead; two daughters: Tracy (Greg Vansickle) Ronningen, Kindred, ND and Teri (Doug) Lingen of Hickson, ND; five grandchildren: Andrew Ronningen, Haylee and Hannah Vansickle and Jacob and Ethan Lingen; eight siblings: Bob (Joan) Swenson of Burnsville, MN, Ordean (Betty) Swenson of Moorhead, Lorraine (Ben) Kemp of Bismarck, ND, Sophie Swenson of Barnesville, David (Wanda) Swenson of Hawley, Larry (Sharon) Swenson of Harligen, TX, Armand (Nonie) Swenson of Rollag, MN and Adeline (Jerry) Furst of Carver, MN. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Donald, and a nephew Brian Swenson.
