Donald Halverson, 85, died on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at ClayCo Care Center in Barnesville, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM, Friday, October 30, 2015 at Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville with Father Gary LaMoine presiding. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Barnesville, MN. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Thursday, October 29, 2015 with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, MN and continue for one hour prior to the Mass. Donald Arthur Halverson was born on September 4, 1930 to Arthur Johannes and Alsesta Francellia (Reierson) Halverson on the family farm in Elkton Township, near Downer, MN. He grew up and attended school in Barnesville graduating in 1948. He was united in marriage to Eileen Grace Schritz on August 16, 1951 at Assumption Catholic Church. They made their home on a farm near Downer, MN where Don cared and tended for the land and raised cattle for over 45 years. Family was the first and foremost joy in Don's life. The activity that engulfed his life with family brought such joy and laughter along with its lessons. He also enjoyed collecting toy tractors. In his day he taught his boys how to hunt and how not to hunt. He served on the Elkton Town Board, Barnesville School Board, 4-H, and was a member of Assumption Catholic Church. Don is survived by his wife of 64 years Eileen, Barnesville; six children: Tim (Laura) Halverson, Surprise, AZ; Kevin (Donna) Halverson, Lonsdale, MN; Craig (Peggy) Halverson, Baker; Mark Halverson, Fargo; Steve "Ralph" (Patty) Halverson, Barnesville, MN; and Kristi (Mike) Bolgrean, Chaffee, ND; 18 grandchildren: Erika Johnson, Kari (Chad) Whiting, Alicia Halverson, Torrey Halverson, Erin Halverson, Bryce Halverson, Tabatha (Jerome) Wasfaret, Taryn (Cory) Unterschuetz, Luke (Lindsey) Halverson, Bryanne (John) Gould, Brittany (Tyler) Thorson, Kelsey (Josh) Erbes, Dylan Halverson, Brent (Erica) Halverson, Brad Halverson, Sheena (Brian) Lee, Alex Bolgrean, Michaella Bolgrean and Maycee Bolgrean; 12 great grandchildren; one brother Brian (Joanne) Halverson, Barnesville, MN; and many other relatives and friends.
