Andrea Sylvester

Andrea Sylvester, 77, of Barnesville, MN died on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at her home. Memorial services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Barnesville, MN with Pastor Chris Leach officiating.  Interment will be in City Cemetery, Barnesville.  Visitation will be held 5-7 PM, Friday, at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville.  Andrea Kay Norby was born on August 2, 1938 to Julian and Mabel (Thorson) Norby in Fargo, ND.  She grew up in Barnesville, where she graduated from high school in 1956.  She then graduated from Moorhead State University, and went on to work as a social worker in Pine County, MN.  Andrea was married to Richard “Dick” Sylvester on May 2, 1964.  They lived in Hallock, MN, Moorhead, MN and settled in Barnesville in 1968.  For many years Andrea worked at the grocery store on Front Street in Barnesville.  Andrea also devoted her time caring for her aging mom.   In her younger years, she enjoyed many things including softball and ceramics.  She also enjoyed bowling and golf.  She is survived by her husband Richard, Barnesville, two children:  Cortney (Carol) Sylvester, Twin Cities, MN, Alexandra (Bobby) Ishaug, two grandchildren Tori Ishaug & Blake Ishaug, two sisters in law Lois Davis and Jeanette Lysfjord, and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Dude and Robert Norby.  Andrea Sylvester Program
