D.E. "Sammy" Braton

February 6, 1922 — April 21, 2016

D.E. “Sammy” Braton, of Barnesville, MN died on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Golden Manor Assisted Living in Barnesville. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, April 29, 2016 at Cormorant Lutheran Church, 14314 County Highway 4, Lake Park, MN with Rev. Wade Dutton officiating.  Burial will follow in Lake Ida Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM, Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, MN with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM.  Visitation will also be for one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday.  D.E. “Sammy” Braton was born on February 6, 1922 to Samuel Sr. and Gladys (Grant) Braton in Prairie View Township, Wilkin County, MN.  He attended 1st-8th grade at a country school in Prairie View Township.    He was united in marriage to Margaret Paulson on July 14, 1944.  Six months later he enlisted in the Army and served in Japan and the Philippines.  Two years later he returned home, and took over his father-in-law’s farm.  He tended to that dairy farm his whole life.  He also worked at the Cormorant Lumber yard for many years.  Sammy loved polka party, gardening, feeding the birds, following politics and current events.  The time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren brought special joy to him. He is survived by one daughter Connie (Kenneth) Meek of North Branch, MN; one son Steven (Cynthia) of Arvada, CO; six grandchildren:  Mia Parke, Amanda Braton, Krista Braton, Lisa Braton, Andrew (Aunna) Braton, and Jessica (David) Wan; and six great grandchildren: Dylan Parke, Ashley Parke, Stephanie and Dominic Braton, Chance Braton and Arik Wan; one brother, Robert (Donna) Braton; one sister Beverly Thompson, sisters-in-law Janice Braton, Bev Braton and Leona Braton, as well as many nieces and nephews.  Sammy was preceded in death by his parents; wife Margaret; son Daniel Braton; six brothers: Floyd, Kenneth, Ronald, James, Samuel Jr., and Howard; and one sister, LaVonne Hanson.  D.E.
