Dorothy Scheffler

March 24, 1933 — December 16, 2016

Dorothy Scheffler, 83, died on Friday, December 16, 2016 at Columbine West Health and Rehab in Fort Collins, CO.     Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 7, 2016 at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, MN.  Burial will follow in Rosemound Cemetery, Barnesville.  Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM, Friday, January 6, at Dobmeier Funeral Home.   Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the funeral service.     Dorothy Katherine Ladwig was born on March 24, 1933 to Walter and Katherine “Katy” (Thomas) Ladwig near Lawndale, MN.  She was raised on a farm near Lawndale.  She attended country schools and graduated in 1951 from Barnesville High School.  She married Lloyd on September 9, 1952, they farmed in Wilkin County just south of Barnesville all of their lives.  Dorothy will be remembered for her large vegetable gardens as well as flowers.  She preserved veggies and fruits every year for her family.  She enjoyed baking and company could always depend upon coffee and something sweet from her kitchen.  She will be remembered for her woven rugs that she made for many people and church groups.  In later years, she enjoyed feeding the birds and crocheting.  Her time with her grandchildren and great granddaughter were always treasured.  She continued to manage the family farm after Lloyd’s passing in 2013 until February 2016.  Since March of 2016, she has resided near her granddaughter in the Columbine West Health and Rehab in Fort Collins, CO.  She is survived by her daughter Marilyn (George) Booms of Lott, TX, granddaughter Denise Moberg of Ault, CO, Grandson Duane Moberg of Barnesville, MN, Great Granddaughter Alexis Halverson of Downer, MN, brother Curtis (Marylou) Ladwig of Argusville, ND, and many other relatives and friends.   She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd on March 6, 2013, and her parents, brothers William “Bill”, Ralph, Wallace, and Lyle Ladwig, and a sister Charlotte Johnson.  Dorothy Scheffler Funeral Bulletin
