Arlene Mae Czichotzki

May 5, 1929 — February 7, 2017

Arlene Czichotzki, 87, Barnesville, MN, passed away at Sanford Hospital, Fargo, ND, on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 with her family by her side.   Memorial Services will be Friday, February 10, 2017 at 11 AM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Barnesville with Pastor Chris Leach officiating.   Visitation will be Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 5-8 PM at Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville, with a prayer service at 7 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral.   Arlene Mae Olson was born on May 5, 1929 to Albert and Irene (Larson) Olson in Barnesville at the Maternity House. She was baptized at Little Bethany Lutheran Church rural Barnesville, and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Barnesville. She attended school in Barnesville and graduated from BHS in 1947.  She then attended Moorhead State Teacher’s College for 1 year. She taught 1st – 8th grades at District 25 Manston Township for 1 year and also at Georgetown, MN for one year.   Arlene married Odien E. “Bud” Czichotzki on June 26, 1950 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Barnesville. They started a farm ½ mile from Bud’s home place Southwest of Barnesville, where they farmed and raised their family.  She continued to teach at Mitchell Township Country School, grades 1 – 8, for a year.  Arlene was a homemaker and farm hand, helping Bud with both the livestock and fieldwork. In 1981 they moved into Barnesville. During the summer they camped at area lakes until 2009. They wintered in Florence, Arizona from 1982 to 2015.   She was very active in the Barnesville community. She was a member of the Farmerettes, a local homemakers group, and member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries. She was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the ladies aid at Christ Lutheran in Mitchell Township. At Our Savior’s Lutheran in Barnesville she was active in WELCA, the quilters group and the ladies circle. They attended the Christ Lutheran Church in Coolidge, Arizona.   Arlene had many hobbies and interests. She spent many hours sewing, doing ceramics, beadwork, knitting and crocheting, basically any kind of crafts. She did a lot of reading, cooking, baking and canning. Arlene always had a large garden. She loved traveling and camping.   Arlene is survived by her husband of 66 years, Bud, Barnesville; her daughter Deborah (David) Johnson of Lake Park, MN; son Terry (Sandra) Czichotzki of Barnesville, MN; 4 grandchildren: Jared (Debbie) Johnson, Fargo, ND, Marla (Jason) DeFoe, Thompson, ND, Alexander Czichotzki, Barnesville, MN and Austin Czichotzki, Minneapolis, MN;:  4 great grandchildren: Megan Johnson, Kendal DeFoe, Taylor Johnson and Dominic DeFoe and nieces and nephews.   Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Krisitie and one brother Donald Olson.   Arlene C Folder
