Tom Olson, 83, Barnesville, MN died on Wednesday, February 08, 2017 at ValleyCare and Rehab in Barnesville.   Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, February 13, 2017 at Hope Lutheran Brethren Church in Barnesville with Pastor Kevin Skarett officiating.  Burial will follow in Prairie View Cemetery, rural Barnesville.    Visitation is 2-5 on Sunday, February 12, at Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville with a Prayer Service at 4:30 PM.  Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Monday.  George Thomas Olson, “Tom”, was born September 8, 1933 to George and Bergetta (Mindrum) Olson in Barnesville, MN. Tom was baptized and confirmed at Little Bethany Lutheran Church, rural Barnesville. He attended county school near Barnesville through 8th grade. He then attended Barnesville High School, graduating from BHS in 1951.   Tom married Ivy Scheffler in 1954. Tom farmed on the home farm in Wilkin County his entire life. Tom and Ivy enjoyed 13 years of wintering in Mesa, Arizona.   Tom loved to sing, play guitar and was excellent at working with wood.   Tom is survived by his wife Ivy; one daughter, Christi (Mark) Biederman of Fergus Falls, MN; 3 sons: Tim (Vicki) Olson of Fargo, ND; Gary (Sherri) Olson of Oshkosh, WI; and Dave (Kandi) Olson of Hazen, ND;  and a son-in-law, Dave Sogn; 10 grandchildren: Melissa (Kelly) Erdmann; Trisha (Brad) Rutten; Matt (Christine) Sogn; Adam (Tara) Krabbenhoft; Austin Krabbenhoft; Eric (Melissa) Olson; Alissa (John) Stark; Tony Olson; Shelbi Olson; and Kameri Olson; and 9 great-grandchildren: Regan and Jake Erdmann; Paige and Gavin Dewar; Rylan and Rhianna Krabbenhoft; and Aiden, Hadley and Jaxton Olson and one sister, Romona Malingen.   He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Cindy Sogn; 3 brothers: Rodney, Stanley and Curtis; and a brother-in-law, Alan Malingen.
