Elisabeth "Liz" Johnk

January 19, 1941 — March 6, 2017

Elisabeth “Liz” Johnk, 76, died on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Sunnyside Care Center in Lake Park, MN.       Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sabin, Rev. Brett Hartwig officiating.  Burial will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Sabin.     Visitation will be 5-8 PM, Friday, March 10, 2017 with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, MN.  Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Saturday.     Elisabeth Bertha Krebs, daughter of Anton Sr. and Elisabeth (Stock) Krebs was born on January 19, 1941, in Barnesville, MN.  She was baptized on February 9, 1941, and confirmed on May 17, 1953 at Trinity Lutheran in Sabin.  She attended rural country school and grew to womanhood in the Baker-Barnesville area graduating from Barnesville High School in 1958.  Following graduation, she attended Interstate Business College and worked at JC Penney.   Elisabeth married Ronald Johnk on November 19, 1960, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sabin.  She became a farm wife, working alongside her husband for many years.  Later in life, she drove school bus for Larry Nelson for 16 years.   Her passion was being a farm wife, mom to five children, and grandmother.  She worked hard in her garden and canned what it produced.  She liked to cook and bake and some of her favorites included: chocolate chip cookies, homemade buns, scotcheroo bars, and potato salad.  She also enjoyed traveling, snowmobiling, camping, reading, and working in her flower beds.  Elisabeth was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sabin.  With church, she was active in Sunday school, Guild, and served as district president of the LWML.  She helped start the Town and Country Softball League in Baker.  She was involved with Campfire, Sabin Lioness’, and cooking for the Lion’s Club.   Liz is survived by her husband Ronald, Dilworth; 5 children:  Dennis (Jayne) Johnk, Sabin; Kimberly (Mark) Kurtz, Andover, MN; Darryl (Tammy) Johnk, Sabin; Kevin (Rebecca) Johnk, Moorhead; Lois (Scott) Blattenbauer, Glyndon; 11 grandchildren: Matthew (Ashley) Johnk; Casey Johnk; Christopher (Sidney) Johnk; Danielle Kurtz; Jared Kurtz; Nitasha (Elliot) Asplin; Paige Johnk; Derek Johnk; Dylan Johnk; Samantha Blattenbauer; and Madison Blattenbauer; 6 great grandchildren:  Brennan & Mason Johnk; Rylee & Briggs Johnk; Conner & Audrey Asplin; one brother-in-law Joseph Narde; and one sister-in-law Lila Krebs; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.   She was preceded in death by her parents; seven siblings: Esther (Charles) Thorson; Viola (Harold) Bjornson; Elenora Narde; Anton “Tony” Krebs Jr.; Audrey Krebs; Clarence (Lorene) Krebs; and Helen (Kermit) Bjornson.       Funeral Folder
