Beth Olson Simison

Beth passed away on April 22, 2017 at Sunnyside Care Center in Lake Park, Minnesota. She had recently turned 99 years old. Beth was born on March 11, 1918 in Barnesville, Minnesota. She attended Barnesville Public Schools, graduating from BHS as Valedictorian of her class in 1936. Beth worked at First National Bank of Barnesville until 1939 when she married Parker Simison of Hawley.   Beth spent the rest of her life being the best wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt she could possibly be. She was happy living in Idaho, Michigan and Illinois before returning to her beloved Minnesota in the early 50’s. She even tolerated a few winters in Prune City, Arizona.   After the death of her husband, she spent 11 years at her home on Pelican Lake before moving to Sunnyside. Wildlife of all kinds thrilled her, but birds were her favorites.   Beth was preceded in death by her husband Parker; sisters: Lois Zuckman and Peggy Simison; her brother Louis Olson; and a son-in-law Craig Hicks. She is survived by her sister-in-law Elaine Olson of Barnesville; daughters: Dian Zeck (Frank) of Lisbon, ND and Peggy Hicks of Sussex, WI; sons: Tim (Barbara) of Vergas, MN and Jan of Redondo Beach, CA; as well as 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.   The family will have a memorial honoring Beth in August.
