Susan Kay McGough

December 29, 1967 — May 12, 2017

Susan McGough, 49, of Barnesville, MN, died on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo of stage 4 liver cancer.           Funeral Services will be 5:00 PM, Thursday, May 18, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Barnesville with Pastor Tom Eaves officiating.  Burial will be in Rosemound Cemetery, Barnesville.    Visitation will be 5-8 PM, Wednesday, May 17, 2017 with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Barnesville, MN.  Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the funeral service.       Susan Kay Hoppe was born on December 29, 1967 to Earl J. and Iris (Edwards) Hoppe in Moorhead, MN.  She grew up and attended school in Barnesville graduating in 1986.    Throughout high school she worked at the Wagon Wheel Restaurant in Barnesville.  Susan would go from a full shift at one job onto another long shift at the next.  For 24 years, Susan has worked as a cook at the Barnesville High School.  On the weekends she continued to work at the Pool Hall and Eagle Café.    Susan will be remembered for her signature big hair and a quick comment with her friends and patrons.  More importantly she will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mom, and caring grandma.  Spending time with Grandson Blake and going on a “cheeseburger run” was a special time.  She loved cooking, baking, and hosting family events.  She was always cleaning the house.    She is survived by her husband Kevin McGough; three children:  Jake (Alyssa) McGough, Ryan McGough and Nikki McGough; grandson, who she adored, Blake McGough; siblings:  Karl Hoppe, Barnesville; Steven (Tammy) Hoppe, Sabin, MN; and Mark Hoppe, Moorhead, MN; and her mother-in-law Jane McGough, Dilworth, MN.  She also leaves in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.    She was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Iris; and sister Jayne Hoppe Lien.       Susan's Memorial Folder
