Maurice Schindler

January 29, 1954 — October 17, 2017

Maurice Schindler, 63, of Fargo, ND, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at his home in Fargo.  Memorial Services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, October 23, 2017 at Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville, MN with Father Gary LaMoine presiding.  Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Barnesville.  Visitation will be from 5-7 PM, Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, MN with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM.  Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the Memorial service at the church.  Maurice Conrad Schindler was born on January 29, 1954 to Floyd E. and Glenora Charlotte (Hilgers) Schindler in Moorhead, MN.  He grew up on Barnesville where he attended school and graduated from Barnesville High School in 1973.  During his high school years, he enjoyed wrestling.  Maurice enjoyed cooking and that was a major part of his life.  He cooked at the Galaxy Supper Club for many years.  He then attended Moorhead Technical College and became a chef.  In his younger years, he lived near Modesto, California, where he and a buddy Terry Pete had a pizza parlor.   He returned to Fargo and continued his passion of cooking at the Old Broadway in Fargo, and for many years at the Grainery in the West Acres Mall, and the Barnstormer at the Fargo airport.  Later in life, he drove forklift at Tecton in Fargo.  Maurice enjoyed long drives in the country, exploring abandoned farms for treasures.  He also liked to ride motorcycle.  He enjoyed spending weekends at the lake with his special friend Julie and her family.  Maurice is survived by long time special friend Julie Hanson, of Fargo, ND, and her daughter Jamie (Jared) Jenison; grandpa to Daniel and Emerson Jenison, five siblings: Richard (Cheryl) Schindler, Barnesville; Charlotte (Doug) Nelson, Barnesville; Howard Schindler, Barnesville; Rose (Bernard) Bates, Moorhead; and Joseph Schindler, Barnesville, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.  Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Eugene Schindler.  Maurice's Memorial Folder
