It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Allan Ladwig at the age of 84 and his beloved wife, Judy Ladwig at the age of 82. Surrounded by loved ones in the comfort of their own home, they passed away within 5 days of each other.

Allan, born on March 9, 1939, to Arthur and Jeanette (Henry) Ladwig in Barnesville, Minnesota. He spent his childhood and graduated high school in this close-knit community. He was an active member of 4-H, Grand Champion Suffolk Ewe at the Minnesota State Fair.  Allan had a zest for life and pursued his passions with unyielding determination.

Judy, born on June 4, 1941, to Monroe and Mamie (Joyce) Mittag in Lisbon, North Dakota and graduated from Moorhead High School where she was good at English and enjoyed writing. She was the oldest of 5 children. She had a natural talent for decorating, sewing, and crafts which led to several beautiful porcelain dolls, ceramics, decorative gourds, and more.

Allan & Judy were married on June 6, 1960, and worked a dairy farm near Barnesville for a couple of years and moved to the Twin Cities in 1962 where Allan graduated from the University of Minnesota. They moved to Colorado in the early 1970’s where Allan pursued a successful career as the Vice President of Sales for a sand and gravel company. Judy worked as a keypunch operator and worked in insurance. They both were realtors for a time.

Allan and Judy’s bond and commitment remained strong throughout their years together, as they embarked on countless adventures. Allan had his pilot’s license and they greatly enjoyed flying his small planes around the area of their homes in Minnesota and Colorado. Together, they enjoyed being snowbirds, traveling the country in their motorhomes with home bases in both Arizona and Colorado. He and Judy loved the desert and collecting rocks during their travels.

Together, they leave behind a legacy of love and treasured memories. They are survived by their children, Debbie Pyles from Pelican Rapids, MN, Mark and daughter-in-law Julie Ladwig from Traverse City, MI.  Their grandchildren, Jimmy, Sarah, Tally, and Brenna. Step grandchildren Greg, Allison, Charlie, and Ryan along with their step great-grandchildren, Cassidy and Nori.

Allan will be affectionately remembered by his sisters, Phyllis Freeman and Patty Sandstrom, and Judy by her siblings, Joyce Knapp, Janice Linde, Sharon Schanilac and Ron Mittag. They were preceded in death by both their parents and their son-in-law, Tom Pyles.

They will be deeply missed, but their spirit and life stories will forever be cherished. Rest in peace until we meet again.

A casual celebration of life will be held from 2-4 PM on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the Pitchfork (20063 MN Hwy 34) in Barnesville, MN.
