Barnesville, MN

Cheryl Baker, 68, of Barnesville, MN, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Fargo Baptist Church (3303 23rd Ave S) at 11:00 am with Pastor Tony Scheving presiding. Cheryl Marlene Loeffler was born March 13, 1956, in Virginia, MN, to George and Irma Loeffler. She was raised in Becida, MN, and attended one of the last one room schools in MN—Meadowview School. She moved to Florida at age 13 and graduated high school in Clearwater, Florida. After graduating she moved to Bemidji, MN. Her chosen career in life was as a nurse in various nursing homes, hospitals, working in Hospice Settings, and with people with developmental disabilities.

Cheryl LOVED taking care of people, spending time with ALL her family, Bible studies, studying about “The Local New Testament Church”, going to church and attending venison feeds with her family. She loved the pebbles that her grandchildren gave her over the years and carried them in her wallet. Most grandkids pick dandelions; Cheryl’s picked special pebbles. If the pebbles weren’t in her wallet, they were displayed around her home.

Cheryl became “Born Again” on July 15, 2007, and lived her life for Christ ever since that day. She absolutely loved the Lord and walked closely with Him through some of her most difficult struggles and through her most joyful moments. We know she is walking streets of gold and seeing her loved ones that have gone to heaven before her.

Cheryl is survived by her children: Kerri (Terry) Jourdain, Sarah Headbird, Dan (LeRae) Groth, Jason Wells, Stephen Wells, Sherry Wells, Crystal (Adam) Spiker, and Dan (Renae) Sapp; 19 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; stepmother Judith Loeffler; brothers: Terry (Debbie) Loeffler, Ivan Loeffler; sisters: Elaine (David) Dunbar, sister-in-law Marilyn Loeffler; her first husband David Wells; and a very loving and encouraging church family.

She was preceded in death by her parents George and Irma (Smith) Loeffler; daughters: Vonnie Wells-Knox and Mindy Swan; sisters: Karen Bontreger, Dianne Roberge, Tracy Smith; and brother Darwin Loeffler.
