Cindy Jo Mason

Cindy Mason, 60, of rural Pelican Rapids, MN, died on Friday, May 7, 2021 in her home.

A private family Memorial Service will be held at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, MN.

A Celebration of Life for Cindy will be at The Pitchfork in Barnesville, MN on Friday, June 11, 2021 from 2:00-5:00 pm.

Cynthia Jo Haarsager was born on June 10, 1960 to Alfred and Dorine (Rufsvold) Haarsager in LaMoure, ND. She grew up on the family farm in Litchville, ND. She graduated from Litchville High School in 1978. Following graduation she attended NDSU and had a 37 year career at BlueCross/BlueShield of ND (CoreLink).

On August 23, 1980 she married the love of her life, Scott Alan Mason, in Valley City, ND. Scott and Cindy began their married life in West Fargo, ND and moved to Barnesville, MN in 1990 where they raised their two boys, Kyle and Ryan. One of her favorite things was following her boy's many sporting activities.

Family was Cindy's first love. She loved hosting holidays and family get togethers and looked forward to the annual cousin reunion in Fort Ransom, ND. She would spend hours cooking and preparing food, which never seemed to run out.

Cindy had a love of travel, she particularly liked cruising. Scott and Cindy were fortunate enough to go on 10 Carnival cruises over the years. She had a gift for flower gardening and scrapbooking and was a volunteer for the Special Olympics for many years.

In April 2018 Cindy was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). They moved to their home in rural Pelican Rapids, MN in 2020 in order to accommodate her needs.

Cindy is survived by her husband, Scott; her sons Kyle, Moorhead, and Ryan (Jenna) Moorhead; two sisters, Dawn (Tim Gunderson) Estuesta, Blaine, MN, Kim (Donald) Draper, Fargo; brothers and sisters-in-law, Elroy Mason, Fargo; Penny and Cecil Mosher, Erhard, MN; Korreen Mason, West Fargo; Rick Mason, Fargo; Candy and Darrell Norquist, Fargo; Jeff and Sandy Mason, Sauk Prairie, WI; Roland and Janet Mason, Williston; Corey Norton, West Fargo, several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Preceding Cindy in death are her parents; brother, Alan Haarsager; brother-in-law, Randy Mason; her beloved fur babies, Zoe and Charlie.

She will be remembered as being kind, compassionate, caring, giving and always willing to help everyone.
