Curtis Lynn Goodman

Curtis Goodman, fondly known as "Curt," passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on September 14, 2026, at Sanford Fargo Hospice, Fargo, ND, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, kindness, and an unwavering love for his family and friends. His life will be honored with a memorial service at Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville, MN. Visitation will be held from 4-6 pm on Tuesday, Sept 22, with a prayer service at 6 pm. Visitation will resume at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, September 23, prior to a memorial service led by Jeanne Putnam at 2:00 pm.

Curtis Lynn Goodman was born on February 8, 1958, in Fargo, ND, to Halldor & Patricia. He spent innumerable hours of his youth tinkering on bikes, and eventually cars, with his brothers and other neighborhood friends. Curt and his beloved wife, Gwendolyn Goodman, first crossed paths at Central Jr. High when they were just fourteen years old. Gwen always insisted that she was “gonna marry that man,” and she did just that, on July 8, 1977. Their bond was a testament to true love, and they built a beautiful life together, raising three wonderful children. As a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Curt's affection for his family was paramount in his life, holding top priority above all else. He was also an incredible son, brother, uncle, and friend.

He was not just a family man; Those who knew him will also remember his warm heart, kind actions, and quick wit. Curt had a knack for making people laugh—his sense of humor was legendary among family and friends. His joyous spirit was particularly evident while playing cards (especially cribbage and rummy) or showcasing his champion skills at horseshoes. He made every moment enjoyable. He also cherished the time he spent time at Ice Cracking Lake, where he found peace and happiness.

A true rock music aficionado, Curt filled his life and home with the soundtracks of his favorite bands. He was also a dedicated Minnesota Vikings fan, cheering them on with unyielding loyalty.

Curt dedicated much of his life to hard work. His early working years were spent running a paper route. He started his career at Bjornson Oil at the young age of 14 and remained there until 1991. He then transitioned to the Red River Valley and Western Railroad, where he worked until his retirement in 2021.

Curt is survived by his devoted wife, Gwen; children: Rani (Trace) Hooker, Ryan (Amanda) Goodman, and Justice Goodman; grandchildren: Robert (Bayleigh) Mark, Joey Mark, Ryley Goodman, Tyler Hooker, and Molly Hooker; great-grandchildren Kennedi Lynn Mark and soon to arrive Baby Mark; mother Patricia Michel; siblings Michael (Susan) Goodman, Kathy (John) Viebrock, and Steven (Brenda) Goodman; siblings-in-law: Jacki Odegaard, Vicki (Kim) Lein, Brenda (Bryan) Fredrickson, John Halvorson, and Dan Hanneman; many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.

He was preceded in death by his father, Halldor Goodman; parents-in-law Walt & Helen Halvorson; brother Mark Goodman; and siblings-in-law: Debbie Goodman, Faye Melton, and Jody Odegaard.

Though he's no longer with us, the spirit of Curtis Lynn Goodman will live on in the laughter he shared and the love he cultivated. Rest in peace, Curt—you will be deeply missed.
