Harold Roesch

Harold Roesch, 80, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Sanford Hospice House in Fargo.

Memorial mass will be 11:00 AM, Monday, December 13, 2021, at Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville with Father Todd Arends presiding. Burial will follow in the spring at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Barnesville.

Visitation will be from 10-11 am on Monday at the church.

Harold Thomas Roesch was born on August 20, 1941, to Francis and Vivian (Frink) Roesch in Moorhead, MN. He grew up in Downer, MN and attended the Assumption Catholic School and then Barnesville High School. He worked in many area spud houses in his younger years. At the age of 17, he started working at the block plant in Downer, where he continued to work for 20 years.

On July 18, 1970, he was united in marriage to Karen Louise (Anderson) at St. Frances Xavier Catholic Church in Lake Park, MN. They made their home in Downer, MN. They moved to Blackduck, MN and lived there from 1978 until 1986. During this time, he worked for Frenzel Feed and Fertilizer. They returned back to Downer, and he began working for Kost Brothers until his retirement in 2000. During this period of time, three sons were born: Edward, David, and Daniel.

Harold enjoyed fishing, throughout the entire year. He spent lots of time working in the yard and gardening. For many years, he sold vegetables from his garden at their home. Saturday morning coffee with friends was a highlight of the week. He enjoyed the grandchildren immensely.

Harold is survived by his wife of 51 years, Karen; two sons: Ed (Candace) Roesch, of Pelican Rapids, MN, and Dan Roesch, of Fargo, ND; four grandchildren: Cyris, Sullivan, Anderson, and Harrison Roesch; siblings: Roseanna Gardener, of Downer, Howard (Dianna) Roesch, of Clear Lake, MN, Frank Roesch, of Vergas, MN, Ginger (Bill) Carr, of Sabin, MN, Susan (Kevin) Olene, of Benson, AZ, and Bill (Maggie) Roesch, of Glenville, PA; brother-in-law, Chuck Mohs, of Hugo, MN; sister-in-law Naomi Roesch, of Downer, MN; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Harold was preceded in death by his son, David Roesch; his parents; three siblings: Mary (Gordon) Stellmach, Vivian Mohs, and Mike Roesch; and brother-in-law, Dale Gardener.
