Joy Rhoda Dockter

Joy Rhoda Dockter, 74, of Barnesville, MN, died on May 20, 2023 at her home.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 30, 2023 from 5-7 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, MN. 

Memorial Services will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville, MN with Father Todd Arends presiding.  Burial will be  in Rosemound Cemetery, Barnesville, MN. 

Joy Rhoda Hough was born on July 13, 1948, at St. Ansgar Hospital in Moorhead, Minnesota.  Joy grew up on the family farm just north of Barnesville and graduated from Barnesville High School in 1966. Joy’s class selected her as their Homecoming Queen! Joy will always be remembered for her great sense of humor!  After graduation from high school, she was immediately employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone. Although the company went through several name changes her employment lasted for more than 40 years. Joy was married to Tim Dockter on July 11, 1970, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moorhead, Minnesota. Joy and Tim lived in Fargo and West Fargo until they moved to Barnesville, Minnesota in the fall of 1977, when they became members of Assumption Catholic Church. While in Barnesville, they raised a daughter, Crystal, and son, Christopher.

Joy is survived by her husband, Tim; daughter Crystal and her husband, Brian and their children, Logan, Tegan, and Regan Batey; son Christopher and his wife, Melanie, and their children, Jack, Fiona, and Asher Dockter. Joy is also survived by brothers, Joe, Jay, James, Jeff, and Jan, and sisters, Julie, Janet, Jennifer, and Jill.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Joe A. Hough and Rhoda (Lemke) Hough.

May Joy’s soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
