Judy Frederiksen

August 8, 1941 — December 4, 2024

Barnesville, MN

Judith “Judy” Frederiksen, age 83, of Barnesville, MN, passed away on December 4, 2024.

A Celebration of Life will be held June 14th at 11:00 am at Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville, MN with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service.

Judy was born on August 8, 1941, in Breckenridge, MN to David and Rose (Neppl) Bulik. She was the eldest of five children and grew up in Barnesville, attending Assumption Church Elementary School and graduating from Barnesville High School in 1959. Following graduation, she moved to St. Paul, MN, where she met the love of her life, August “Gus” Frederiksen. They were united in marriage on January 27, 1962.

The couple first made their home in the Twin Cities before moving to Spooner, WI, in 1964, where they lived until 1973. During that time, Judy worked at a local bakery and also served as a librarian. She and Gus enjoyed square dancing on the weekends, forming lasting memories together.

From 1973 to 1975, they lived in Wishek, ND, and then in Chisago City, MN, until 1977. In 1978, they settled in Barnesville, MN, where Judy worked for GAB Robins until her retirement.

In retirement, Judy cherished spending time with her sisters-in-las, Coralee Bibeau and Terry Abel, taking frequent trips to the casino and enjoying many evenings uptown pulling pull tabs. She loved hosting family and friends during Potato Days, where laughter, good food, and parade-watching from her yard became treasured traditions.

Judy had a deep love for reading, gardening – especially tending to her flowers – and baking for loved ones. Her homemade brownies were legendary. She also enjoyed feeding and watching the birds from her front window, often waging a lighthearted battle with the ‘damn squirrels” who tried to steal the birdseed.

She was known for her warmth, humor, and her signature color – purple. In honor of Judy’s life, attendees are encouraged to wear purple or lavender to her service.

Judy is survived by her three children: Scott (Dee) Frederiksen of Barnesville, MN; Pamela (Paul) Iskyan of Manhasset, NY; and Steve Frederiksen of Las Vegas, NV. She also leaves behind two beloved granddaughters, Jacklyn (Wes) Iskyan and Samantha Iskyan, both of New York City; and her sister, Mary (Kerry) Foster of Rocky Top, TN.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
