Judith "Judy" Kay Siggerud

December 20, 1954 — September 17, 2023

Pelican Rapids

Judith Kay Siggerud was born on December 20, 1954, in Moorhead, Minnesota, to Stanley and Eleanor Siggerud.  She grew up in Barnesville, graduating from Barnesville High School in 1973. During her high school years, she was active in track, basketball, and gymnastics.  Following high school, she went on to college in Montana, where she got scholarships for track, basketball, and academics.  Following her college career, she moved back to Minnesota.  In her younger years of life, she worked at the Barnesville Nursing Home, Dynamic Industries, and at Classic Roadsters of Fargo in the parts department.

Growing up, Judy had an innate sense of compassion and a desire to help others, which led her to a fulfilling career as a 911 dispatcher. She dedicated many years of service to Clay County, Minnesota, before becoming a dispatch supervisor for Otter Tail County Sheriff Office for 27 years, where she tirelessly worked to ensure the safety and well-being of the community she served. Judy's commitment to public safety extended beyond her professional life, as she selflessly volunteered for 20 years on the Barnesville Ambulance Service, earning the prestigious title of EMT of the Year by the State of Minnesota.

Despite her busy professional life, Judy always found time to enjoy the serene beauty of the lake. In 2017, following her retirement, she made the decision to settle by the peaceful waters she loved. Living by the lake brought her immense joy, and she savored every moment, creating cherished memories with family and friends.  She really enjoyed her great nieces and nephews, Kyla, Wyatt, Connor, Payten, Ryker, Bryden, and Cayson, and their sporting events and activities.

Judy's loving nature and kind spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a devoted friend to Jill Kluck, loving daughter to her mother, Eleanor Siggerud, and a supportive sister to Laurie (Craig) Andvik, and aunt to Missy (Jake) Klemin and Matt (Macey) Andvik. Her family meant the world to her, and she cherished the time spent together, creating lasting bonds and unforgettable moments.

Tragically, Judy's battle with cancer came to an end, leaving a void in the hearts of those who loved her. While we grieve the loss of a remarkable individual, we find solace in the incredible legacy she leaves behind. Judy's unwavering strength, compassion, and dedication will forever inspire us all to live our lives with purpose and love.

Judith Kay Siggerud was a beloved daughter, sister, and dedicated member of her community. She peacefully passed away on September 17, 2023, at the age of 68, surrounded by her loved ones in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Dobmeier Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM, to celebrate the life of Judith Kay Siggerud.
