June Marjorie Anderson

June Marjorie (Berg) Anderson was born on October 21, 1928 in Barnesville, MN to Thomas K. and Laura M. (Rugg) Berg.  June grew up and attended Barnesville Public School.  June was united in marriage to Samuel Wilson in April of 1946.  They had one son, Terry Wilson. As a young woman she worked at the Barnesville City Bakery for 9 years in the late1950’s.  She also worked at Bernie’s Cafe for about 9 months, but had to quit to take care of her ailing mother who was sick with cancer. Her mother Laura passed away at the age of 54.  Her father Thomas also had cancer and passed away at the age of 74.

After June’s divorce from Samuel Wilson, she was united in marriage to John Anderson on July 31, 1960.  She then moved to the Anderson family farm near Rollag, MN.  She helped John on the farm raising wheat, oats and corn and also raised Hereford cattle. John named their farm “The Big Bale Ranch”.  She enjoyed her life on the farm raising their 3 children Jana, Jeff and Joni.

June is survived by four children: Terry (Jewell) Wilson currently of Ecuador, Jana (Jon) Aakre of Hawley, Jeffrey (Melody) Anderson of Pelican Rapids and Joni (David) Gilbertson of Fergus Falls; ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and one sister Diane (Richard) Liebelt of Barnesville.

She was preceded in death by her husband John in 2005, her parents, one brother Glenn Berg, one sister Carol Tweeton.

June was an active member of the Detroit Lakes Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She was a member of the prayer and phone ministry team for several years. She enjoyed flowers and gardening, visiting and helping her friends and relatives. She also enjoyed reading, walking and helping John with the farming activities. She enjoyed her family and had a generous heart.  She cared so much for all of her children and was a caretaker for several of her family members over the years. Most importantly, June loved the Lord, her personal Savior, her friend and comforter.

June M. Anderson passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on Friday, August 25, 2023 at her home on the farm that she loved so much. June was the very last member of the Adolf and Petra Anderson family which included 16 siblings and their spouses.  She left quite a legacy by remaining on the home farm until the very end. She passed away under the loving care of Hospice along with her family.  June touched many hearts and will be dearly missed by all. 

Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 1, 2023, at Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 404 Richwood Rd., Detroit Lakes, Minnesota with Pastor Marion Miller officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Interment: Barnesville City Cemetery, Barnesville, Minnesota
