Lloyd Markey

Lloyd W. Markey was born on January 5, 1954 to William Lloyd and Donna Jean (Lorenze) Markey in Moorhead, MN.  He grew up in Moorhead and graduated from Dilworth High School in 1973.  He moved to Detroit Lakes, MN and worked at Snappy for several years.  He moved back to Moorhead and was married to Debbie Saice in 1975.  To this union two children were born Crystal and Tony.  Lloyd continued to work road construction for a few years at F-M Asphalt and then in the slaughterhouse at the West Fargo Stock Yards.  He then began working at Branick Industries where he welded for 30 years.  He married Wanda Keller on June 20, 1987, lived in Moorhead and to this union two children were born, Ben and Brandon, and with this marriage he also took on the love of six more children Cassie, Nathan, Robert, Shawn, Joell, and Chris. 

Lloyd was always working and looking for more work to do.  He also enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle, and taking a trip to the casino, and fishing.  He has summered at the Pelican Hills RV Park for many years and he and Wanda have managed the Pelican Hills RV Park. He loved feeding the wildlife every winter.  Sometimes spending more feeding the animals than on groceries for the week. 

Lloyd is survived by his wife Wanda Markey of Pelican Rapids, MN, 9 children:  Crystal (Larry) Plath of Barnesville, MN, Tony (Bobbie Jo) Markey of Barnesville, MN, Benjamin (Chelsea) Markey of Moorhead, Brandon Markey of Pelican Rapids, Christine (Nate) Sickels of Fargo, ND, Cassie Olson of Valley City, ND, Nathan Boutilier of Alexandria, MN, Shawn Boutilier of Moorhead, MN, Joell (Trey) Drew of Moorhead, MN, Mike (Steffanie) Kern, 15 grandchildren: Jalen Plath, Lilly Markey, Abigail Markey, Jayden Markey, Jaxon Markey, Cassie Lloyd, Masyn Olson, Ashtyn Olson, Joey Miller, Hailey Ihre, Averee Boutilier, Ashely Hasimovic, Daniel Drew, Ashlynn Drew, Jonathon Drew,  5 ½  great grandchildren, two siblings William (Glenda) Jr of Lincoln, Nebraska,  Cindy (David) Eichler of Indianapolis, IN, and nieces, nephews, and several friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents William and Donna, son Robbie Boutilier, brother Michael (Julie) Markey. 

Lloyd Markey, 69, of Pelican Rapids, MN, died on July 17, 2023, in rural Barnesville.

Memorial Services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Cormorant Lutheran Church, of rural Lake Park, MN with Rev. Wade Dutton officiating. 

Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Saturday. 

A time of fellowship and lunch will follow the memorial service at the Pelican Hills RV Park Community Center.  20098 South Pelican Drive, Pelican Rapids, MN.
