Lynn Edward Amundson was born on February 12, 1947, in Breckenridge, Minnesota, to Albin Amundson and Ella (Hoime) Amundson.
He graduated from Breckenridge High School and proudly served in the United States Army, enlisting on December 13, 1966, and receiving an honorable discharge on February 26, 1968.
In 1969, Lynn married Carol Ihland where they raised their family in Kent, Minnesota. In 1970, Lynn began his career with Burlington Northern Railroad, eventually becoming an engineer, retiring in 1991.
In the same year he retired, Lynn married Debra Fix. Through his marriage to Debra, Lynn became part of a blended family with her three daughters. They eventually made their home at Lake Lida where many wonderful memories were made.
Lynn was an outgoing man who enjoyed life and, most of all, spending time with his family. He loved gardening, cooking, woodworking, building and repairing clocks, collecting coins, ice fishing, and spending time at the lake with his family. He especially enjoyed dancing and listening to good music, and the occasional trip to Dakota Magic Casino.
Later in his life, he split his time between western North Dakota and wintering in Arizona with his special friend, Peggy. They enjoyed several years together celebrating many birthdays and holidays with family and friends.
Lynn’s family would like to especially thank the North Dakota Veteran’s Home in Lisbon where Lynn resided in their care for the last years of his life. He made many friends playing cards and sharing memories with both the residents and staff.
Lynn is survived by his daughters, Christin (Jeff) Neiber; granddaughter Brittany Scott, grandson Wyatt Neiber, and great-grandson Greyson Scott. Daughter Suzanne (Paul) Baker; granddaughter Carissa Amundson, grandsons Ashton and Colton Baker. Stepdaughters Machelle (Dave) Velaski; grandson Damon. Bobbi Jo (Brian) Lende; grandsons Kaiden and Kain. Carrie (Rick) Doran; granddaughter Julianna, and many great-step-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Elaine Fossen, Mavis (Dean) Fjeld, Larry Amundson, and Dale (Cherie) Edlund.
He was preceded in death by his son, Cory Amundson; his sister, Donna Ernst; his sister-in-law, Pat Amundson; brother-in-law, Don Fossen; and his parents, Albin Amundson and Ella (Hoime) Amundson.
Lynn will be remembered for his outgoing personality, his love of family, his enjoyment of the lake and outdoors, and the many memories he created with those he loved. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
