Margaret "Maggie" Rose Swenson

Margaret “Maggie” Rose Swenson, 72, of Fargo, ND passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025, at the Pelican Valley Care Center, Pelican Rapids, MN under the care of Hospice. 

Maggie was born February 1st 1953 in Maddock, ND to Kenneth and Veronica (Kupser) Simon. She attended high school in Minnewauken, ND graduating in 1971, then furthering her education at NDSU where she graduated in 1976 with a degree in fashion merchandising. On September 6, 1980 Maggie was united in marriage to John Swenson. 

Outside of odd jobs working her way through school, Maggie had only one place of employment. After graduating from NDSU she began working for deLendrecies and stayed with the store, under different ownerships, for 33 years. The store was last owned by Herbergers. She retired in 2009. 

Maggie enjoyed taking care of her flower beds, doing puzzles, going out to eat, and having her family over for holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. Weekends were spent at sister in-law’s lake place or John’s shop/man cave near Cormorant, MN.

Maggie was preceded in death by her parents Ken and Veronica Simon, brothers Duane and Kenny Simon, nephews Jesse and Jordan Simon and brother in-law Steve Michels. Maggie would not want us to forget her four-legged buddy Buster. 

Maggie is survived by her husband John, sisters Connie Michels of Edmore, ND and Karen (Frank) Lebron of Colorado Springs, CO along with many nephews and nieces. 

The family would like to give a special thanks to her friend JoAnn, Hospice nurse Pam and all the staff at the Pelican Valley Care Center. A private interment and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
