Mary Anne Martinson

Mary Anne Martinson, 88, of Barnesville, MN died on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Valley Care and Rehab in Barnesville, MN.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, May 12, 2023 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Barnesville, MN with Rev. Chris Leach officiating. Burial will follow in City Cemetery, Barnesville, MN.

Visitation will be 5-8 pm, Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM.  Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday. 

Mary Anne Berglund was born on November 28, 1934 to Anton Joseph and Anna Rebecca (Wahlin) Berglund on their farm near Evansville, MN. She graduated from Evansville High School in 1952 and went on to attend Moorhead State Teacher’s College.  She began teaching in the Barnesville schools and continued teaching or substitute teaching until her retirement in 2000.

Mary Anne was united in marriage to Charles Robert Martinson on August 17, 1957 at Christine Lake Lutheran Church near Evansville, MN.  Charles & Mary Anne were blessed with 5 children: Joan Carol, David Charles, Gary Alan, Kay Lynn, and Brian Robert. 

Mary Anne was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Barnesville. She was also involved in Literary League, Garden Club, Homemakers, and many other church and community activities. 

Mary Anne is survived by her children:  David Martinson, Moorhead, MN, Kay (Bruce) Kramer, Missoula, MT, and Brian (Jody) Martinson, Perham, MN; grandchildren: Marisa Kramer, Joel Kramer, Carter Martinson, Jordan Martinson, Emily Martinson; foreign exchange son originally from Bolivia, Chalo (Monica) Flores, and their children Nicol, Micaela, Natalia, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.   

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles “Chuck” Martinson; children Joan Martinson and Gary Martinson; her parents Anton & Anna Berglund, sister Gloria Medley.
