Nancy L Ackerson

Nancy Ackerson, 78, died on Monday, April 22, 2019 at Sanford Hospital, Broadway Campus, Fargo, ND surrounded by her family. 

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, April 26, 2019 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Barnesville, MN with Rev. Chris Leach officiating.  Burial will follow in Gran Lutheran Cemetery, rural Barnesville.

Visitation will be 5-8 PM, Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. 

Nancy Lee Olson was born on July 22, 1940 to Robert and Irene (Johnson) Olson.  She grew up and attended school in Barnesville, MN, graduating in 1958.  She continued her education at Moorhead State University.  After college, she worked at St. John’s Hospital and Lincoln Insurance. 

Nancy married David Ackerson on February 16, 1963.  They lived in Moorhead before building a home in Glyndon on the family farm.  Together they had their children, whom Nancy was so very proud of.  In 1975, during the flood, they moved to Barnesville.  Nancy worked for 33 years at the Barnesville Nursing Home as a cook before retiring in 2011.  She loved her job and all the residents.  She was known to spoil them with her cooking.  Nancy enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.  She loved shopping and casino trips with the girls. 

Nancy is survived by her husband, David, children: Pam (Dean) Akers, Barnesville, Debbie (Duane) Sletmoen, Hawley, MN, Mary (Mark) Kertscher, Moorhead, MN and Dave Ackerson, Barnesville, grandchildren: Chris (Samantha) and Nick Akers, Krista (Shane) Syverson, Kelsi & Brandon Sletmoen, and Sydney Ackerson,  Great Grandchildren: Sophia and Riley Syverson. 

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister and sister, Vickie Clark and brother, Bruce Olson.
