Nicholas James Rollie, 49, of Fargo, ND, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, MN, on Saturday, February 24, 2024, from noon - 2 pm. A time of remembrance and story sharing will begin at 2:00 pm lead by Allen Westby S.A.M. Everyone is encouraged to come as you are, casual and comfy.
Nick was born in Moorhead, MN, on October 28, 1974, to Everett and MaryAnn Rollie. He grew up on the waterways and hills of Alexandria, MN and after high school quickly moved on from Andes Tower Hills to the 14ers (mountains) of Colorado and then northern California. He was a brilliant mechanic and builder of custom 4x4s for his adventures through the mountains.
Nick was a lover of all things outdoors and adrenaline—skateboarding, snowboarding, snowmobiling, wheeling, camping, and sailing, to name a few. He loved music, movies, reading, and eating, and never had a problem sparring with other multi-passionate minds. He also loved animals of all kinds including dogs, snakes, lizards, turtles and cats, which at times even lived with them in their RV.
Nick shared his life with Gina Wymore from 1999-2010 in Truckee, CA. In 2010 he met and fell in love with Milisa Dewey and they birthed MaryAnn Hope in 2011. Her name says it all. Nick could light up a room just by walking into it and had the softest heart, despite his ongoing battles with addiction and loss.
Nick faced significant challenges, including the passing of his mother and the heartbreaking loss of Milisa, along with experiencing the harsh realities of a prison system that often isolates individuals dealing with substance abuse issues through incarceration. Most recently he lived with his dad in Fargo and continued his jack-of-all-trades work at The Shack.
Nick is survived by his daughter, MaryAnn Hope Rollie, Fosston, MN; daughter by marriage, Sierra, Reno NV; father, Everett Rollie, Fargo, ND; siblings: Jennifer (Chris) Hagen, Little Falls, MN, Beau (Susan) Rollie, Germany, Brenna (Mike Ofstedal) Rollie, Fosston, MN, and Megan (David Cherry) Rollie, Chesapeake, VA; aunts and uncles: Dale (Cindy) Rollie, Janet Knepp, Nancy (Pete) Wright; nieces: Ashely, Fiona, and Nora; nephews: Aidan, Chase, and Dayton; several cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his partner, Milisa Rollie, his mother, MaryAnn Rollie, and grandparents, James & Nora Rollie, and Mary & Nicholas James Grimaldi.
