Pamela Jane Carr

Pamela J. Carr, 84, formerly of Barnesville, MN, joined her heavenly father on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Northland Medical Center Hospice, Princeton, MN. A funeral to honor and celebrate her life will be held at Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville, MN, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. Public visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm, and the funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm, with Fr. Jeff Ethen presiding. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Barnesville, MN.

Pamela Jane Carr (Collins) was born on April 13, 1942, in Barnesville, MN, to Maurice and Agnes (Lay) Collins. She attended Assumption Catholic School from first grade until 8th grade. Pamela then attended Barnesville High School and graduated in 1960. Following high school, she attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND, and became a Registered Nurse. Part of her training occurred in Fargo, Jamestown, and Grand Forks, ND. In 1963, Pamela married the love of her life, Kenwood Chester Carr, at Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville, MN. They moved to Robbinsdale, then Crystal, and in 1970, they moved to Elk River, MN, where they raised their family. In addition to raising her family, she worked as a Registered Nurse at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, MN, and the Monticello, MN, Hospital. In 2000, she, Kenwood, and their youngest son, James, moved back to their hometown of Barnesville, MN. In 2026, Kenwood and Pamela moved back to the Elk River area to be closer to family.

Pamela loved baking chocolate chip cookies, pies, and dessert bars for her family. It was her way of expressing her love. Her children would beg her to bake her apple pie, which was the best dang dessert on the planet. She also enjoyed riding her bike into town to visit with friends. Attending the Barnesville Potato Days Festival was a cherished annual tradition. Pamela was a wonderful listener who loved to hear everyone’s stories. She also loved historical fiction and had a lifelong love of music. She could play the accordion! She was loved dearly by her husband of 63 years, her six children, and many friends and family members.

Pamela is survived by her devoted husband, Kenwood, and their 6 children. Pat (Emily) Carr, Tanya (Brad) Waldron, Chris (Tanya) Carr, Angela (Michael) Ellis, Sarah (Derrick) Montplaisir, James (Natalie) Carr. She was also blessed with14 grandchildren, Kelly (Clyde) Christian, Emma (Anthony) Abruzzino, Travis (Braylyn) Carr, Abigail (Zainab) Waldron, Lydia (Cory) Warner, Evan (Morgan) Carr, Kaja (Ethan) Montplaisir, Annica Carr, Liam (Ellie) Carr, Joseph (Miranda) Montplaisir, Connor Ellis, Jack Montplaisir, Vincent Carr, and Lionel Carr. Pamela also has three living great-grandchildren, Roger Carrwood Christian, Tripp Kenneth Warner, and Adalyn Rose Abruzzino. She is also survived by her sister Colleen Possehl and her brothers Patrick (Judith) Collins and James (Carol) Collins.

She will be deeply missed, and her memory will live on through her family, whose lives have been enriched by her unwavering love and support.

Pamela was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Terry Collins, her brother-in-law Roger Possehl, her nieces Victoria Collins and Carla (Tonsfeldt) Durkee, and her great-grandson James Patrick Roger Christian, whom she is now holding in heaven.
