Robert “Bob” Mork, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Barnesville, MN, on August 15, 2025, at the age of 87. A private family service will be held on August 28, 2025, at Dobmeier Funeral Home, in Barnesville, MN, with Pastor Ali Haugerud presiding. Robert John Mork was born on December 24, 1937, in the Larimore, North Dakota hospital. He was the first in the family to be born in a hospital to Henry and Ethel Mork.
Following his graduation from Petersburg High School he followed his sense of adventure by enlisting in the army, and spent time stationed in Georgia and Arizona. After an honorable discharge from the Army he went to work for Minko Construction, and then joined Gateway Builders working there until his retirement in 2002. Retirement didn’t ‘stick’ and he returned to Gateway Builders on a part-time basis working for his son Steve. In 2012 he officially stopped working to take care of his wife Gloria who was battling cancer.
Bob's journey took a serendipitous turn when he found himself in Barnesville, MN, working on an elevator repair job. It was here, at the Eagle Café, that he met his bride-to-be, Gloria Moberg. Their romance blossomed, and they shared their first date on Armistice Day. The couple married on September 30, 1967, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Barnesville, MN, and they quickly became inseparable. Together, they explored the world, enjoying trips to different casinos, soaking up the sun in Hawaii, and cruising through beautiful ocean waters. They traveled every chance they got.
Bob was a man of many talents. He had an impressive collection of brass figurines, which he diligently polished to perfection—each piece a testament to his attention to detail. As a skilled craftsman and woodworker, he dedicated his time to creating replica model wagons to match his Bryer horses with unparalleled precision. His home was alive with the playful energy of the Pomeranians he adored, including his three cherished pups, Toobins, Molly and Dolly. Witty and fun-loving, Robert always had a comment to add to any conversation. He enjoyed antiquing, earning him a reputation as a connoisseur of unique treasures, especially those of the brass variety. He and his ability to make others smile will be sorely missed.
Bob is survived by one daughter, DeAnne (Shane) Ertelt; two sons: Dana (Christi) Moberg, and Steve (Christina) Mork, all of Barnesville, MN; ten grandchildren: Duane Moberg, Dani Davis, Denise (Parker) Lanteri, Melissa Honrud, Mike Mork, Brittany Moberg, Reed Moberg, Glori Mork, Keller Pulkrabek and Jax Pulkrabek; eleven great-grandchildren: Lexi Halvorson; Brayden Davis, Jaxon and Luka Mork, Lucas Koch, Bree Marie Muchow, Bentley Moberg, Nataanii Wilkie, Weston Meisner, Emery and Wyatt Lanteri; siblings: Richard “Dick” (Denise) Mork, James “Jimmy” (Irene) Mork, and Evie (Bobby) Nelson; sisters-in-law: Millie Mork, Carol Moberg, Sue (Jim) Lindlauf and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
