Ronald Duane Morey was born on November 30, 1942, in Roseau, MN; the third child of Ray Arlington and Irene (Carlson) Morey.  He grew up near Wannaska, MN on the family farm, where he attended grade school before attending Roseau High School, graduating in 1961.  He ventured off to the Twin Cities in search of work, living with his sister in Minneapolis.

Ron entered the US Air Force and served his country from 1964 to 1968 during the Vietnam War.  While in the Air Force he worked as an airplane mechanic and saw more tragedy than he ever wanted to talk about.  Following his military service, he returned home to northern Minnesota and began working at Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls, MN.  He worked there for a few years on the assembly line.  During this time, some coworkers set him up on a blind date and he later married Susan Trickle on May 30, 1970.  They made their home in Thief River Falls, while both of them continued working at Arctic Cat.  During this time, their first son Duane was born.  In 1976, they moved to Stephen, MN where they owned and operated a snowmobile repair shop.  Then in 1977, the lived in Fargo for about a years' time, while Ron began working at Burlington Northern Railroad.  They then began building a home south of Barnesville, near Lawndale, MN and settled there in 1978.  During this time Amanda and Adam were added to the family.  He later began working at TJ's Welding in Fergus Falls, and that job eventually transgressed to Theile Engineering, where Ron worked building packaging machines for the next 35 years.  Ron continued to live in the house he built, eventually adding his dream shop to work in.  Ron suffered a stroke shortly before Christmas in 2018 and eventually let him to move to the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls in 2019.

Ron will be remembered as a jack of all trades.  He was talented with a wrench or a hammer in his hand.  He could fix, build, and restore almost any and everything.  In his later years, he became a member of North Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids, the Barnesville VFW and American Legion.
