Terry Berdette Askin, 80, of Barnesville, MN died May 16 under the care of HIA Hospice in Fargo, ND.
He was born Sep. 24, 1945 in Miles City, MT to Vilma and Berdette Askin of Ismay, MT. Terry attended schools in Ismay and Plevna, MT and was employed with the US Postal Service in Baker, MT and Napa, CA. He served on the Dickinson (ND) Police Department, the Dickinson Volunteer Fire Department, and the Dickinson City Commission.
Terry joined the staff of Westfield Insurance Company in 1984 and worked as a claims adjustor for offices in North Dakota, Michigan, Kentucky, Ohio and Minnesota before retiring in 2006. After retirement he was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross and Furniture Mission of the Red River Valley in Fargo.
An avid fan of 60’s rock music, Terry played drums in several bands and enjoyed dancing and listening to his favorite tunes. He also liked traveling, hiking, playing horseshoe and bean bags, and spending time with family and his beloved dog, Dottie.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Jeanne Wallace. He is survived by his wife, the former Margo Muggli; five children, Corey Askin, Detroit Lakes, MN; Kelli Goss, Thorn Hill, TN; Amy Lakin, Vergas MN; David Hassebrock, Fargo, ND and Curt Hassebrock, Moorhead, MN, as well as 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
A celebration of life is planned this summer in eastern Montana.
