Wanda Derro

Wanda Marie Hansen was born on May 12, 1970, in St. Paul, MN to Terrance and Sara (Jorgenson) Hansen. She started out life living in St. Paul, where she attended grade school and her family eventually moved to North Branch, MN where she graduated high school in 1989.

She then became a mom to Sarah-Jo. While hanging out in a park, she met her life partner Scott Derro. They lived in Stacy, MN for a long time and added three more children to the mix including: Scott, Sami, and Summer. For many years, Wanda was a stay-at-home mom. As the children got older, she went back to work, and they lived in a few places around the area including Foxhome, Wahpeton, and Dwight, before moving to Barnesville about 11 years ago.

Wanda was very artistic. She loved to color, draw, paint, and do embroidery work. She also enjoyed writing poetry and was a good cook. Her mashed potatoes were amazing. She was also a wonderful grandmother to her grandchildren.

Wanda is survived by her husband Scott, of Barnesville, MN; four children: Sarah-Jo (Nicolas Hernandez) Johnson of North Branch, MN, Scott II (Emily Kriske) Derro, of Elk River, MN, Sami Derro of Fergus Falls, MN, and Summer (DJ Mullins) Derro, of Barnesville, MN; eight grandchildren and five siblings: Wendy (Jimmy) Woods, of Florida, Tristan Wilkins, Travis Hansen, Josh Hansen, and Jessica Hansen, all of Minnesota.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, and one infant sister, Dawn.

A time of remembrance will be at 1:00 PM, Monday, March 14, 2022, at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, MN. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to that time.
