Duane Morey

Duane Morey

Licensed Funeral Director, Advance Funeral Planner

Duane was born in Thief River Falls and moved to Barnesville when he was in elementary school. As a sophomore in high school, health teacher Gayle Solum took students on a tour of the funeral home with John Dobmeier. That sparked an interest in Duane. He attended Minnesota State University Moorhead and then graduated from Mid-America College of Funeral Service near Louisville, KY. Upon graduating, Duane served his apprenticeship and became a licensed funeral director in Milaca and Onamia, MN. After serving there for three years, he spent some time working in Fargo and then moved to Thief River Falls, where he met his future wife, Robyn, a Thief River Falls native. They were married in 2004 and have three sons named Aaron, Quincy, and Collin. Duane continued to work at the funeral home in Thief River Falls until November of 2012, when he moved home to Barnesville and took over the day-to-day operations at Dobmeier Funeral Home.

Duane works closely with Jade Petznik, managing funeral director at the Larson Funeral Home in Pelican Rapids, MN, to help ensure that both are able to balance the needs of the community and the needs of their own families.

In his spare time, Duane drives a school bus route and extra-curricular trips when able. Duane is a member of the Main Street Board of Directors, and he has been president of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and treasurer of the Barnesville Housing and Rehabilitation Board. He believes community is important and enjoys giving time to help make Barnesville a wonderful place to live.

Duane has over 27 years of experience in funeral service and strives to help each and every family with the utmost care and dignity. The motto of Dobmeier Funeral Home is "Your Story Matters..." and he truly believes in the importance of honoring the uniqueness of every life lived.
